This is brought to you by the Office of Faculty Excellence and Center for Instruction and Research Technology. Here a few tips for a great professional headshot:

• Wear business casual.
• Generally speaking, solid, neutral colors work best for headshots, as you want to avoid anything that distracts.
• Some items that generally don’t work well in photos, include reflective materials, distracting colors, and over the top jewelry. 
• Avoid all-white blouses or shirts as they can wash you out and cause significant loss of depth and detail.
• When styling hair and makeup for photos, simple is best. 
• Make sure to brush and style your hair, but don’t worry about styling any fancy updos that won’t necessarily show up in a single headshot anyway. 
• Avoid dramatic makeup colors and sparkly or shimmery products
