Syllabus Lab: Assessing the Quality of your Syllabi In-Person

Regular revision of your syllabi is a key practice of a self-reflective instructor. In this syllabus lab, we will use a scoring system developed by the University of Virginia's Center for Teaching Excellence to assess whether your syllabi have a learning-centered focus. UVa's syllabus rubric examines four criteria: (1) learning goals and objectives, (2) assessment activities, (3) course schedule, and (4) overall learning environment. Bring your syllabi with you to this event so that we can practice using the rubric.
